When we woke up we heard the sound of rain, but by time we had breakfast and got ready it had cleared up. Dan was going to show us downtown Victoria as Myrna had to work, but myrna received a call from her client saying she wasnt needed today, so she was able to join us which was great. Myrna drove us the short distance into Victoria. Downtown Victoria is really nice, a combination of lovely Canadian scenery with an English flavour in its buildings and buses (Myrna says it is sometimes called little England). We walked down to the Marina and along the sea wall where local artists display their work (pictures, wooden carvings, bead work etc) before Elissa had to leave us and go to work at 1.00pm. The four of us then went to the Royal BC Museum where the time flew as we played mini golf and tried to split a 1 cent coin (part of a speed exhibition) beofre we walked around the more traditional natural, First Nation and modern history exhibits. When we looked at our watches it was 4pm and we hadnt yet had lunch so we walked back through the Empress Hotel (where the Queen stays when she visits) to grab a sandwich from a local cafe. We then went to see Elissa at work in Van Hallen which is an outdorrs equipment store which had a big picture of Dan at the top of Mt Blanc in the window, before going to Ocean River Sports where Dan works. Meg got a Patagonia lifa top and Andy got some shorts all for 37 pounds (thanks to a sale and Dans employee discount). On the way back to the car we saw more spirit bear statues which are First Nation symbols that local business's sponsor and have painted to represent what they do which we both liked. Whilst driving to Myrnas house we drove up Mt Douglas and walked the short distance to the summit where we had amazing views of downtown Victoria, the nearby islands and Saanich. When we got back Elise (Kristels friend who is staying at Myrnas) cooked us all a lovely meal of pasta and shrimp. After we stayed up quite late chatting with Dan and Elissa. In the end the weather turned out quite nice after the morning drizzle.
