"We arrived in India fully prepared to face hot, crowded, and in-your-face country. Thinking we were prepared was our first mistake. Not even those with the greatest imaginations and travel experience could fully appreciate the Indian experience before tasting it firsthand. If you believe great places are defined by remarkable people then you have to agree that this is one of the most remarkable places on Earth. The people of India seem to vibrate on a different frequency. This might explain the violent highs and lows that are abound. Here we have observed some of the world’s most health-conscious people (mostly vegetarian and almost no smokers) yet the landscape is rife with litter and pollution. India proudly produces some of the most eloquent and highly educated people, yet we have seen more souls mired in poverty than could be counted. In a place where well over a billion people are scrambling to make it every day it is easy to be swept up in the storm. Fortunately, we were blessed with a safe haven in the family home of our great friend Ganga Nair. Though he and his wife, Elizabeth, live in Green Bay, they opened their home across the sea to us and we will be heading there immediately."
