Adams Foot
From Round the World '07 in Bangkok, Thailand on Feb 02 '07
So you may have read about the Thai boxing we sampled in our hotel room the other night…the one that led to me being smashed through a lamp. Well, it didn’t really end there.
Obviously from all the larking about and broken lamps, I endured a couple of cuts, no big deal though. Later the following day though I found it increasingly hard to walk, but put it down to wearing sandals on top of existing cuts…they must have been rubbing or something.

Anyway that night we went to the Sirocco restaurant and by the time we left there I could hardly walk, but struggled valiantly on. Upon return to the hotel, and after taking off my shoes I wore to the meal I found the toe end of my foot to be much larger and definitely more swollen than usual!
First thought was that it was broken; it would explain the swelling and inability to walk. But as I woke up the following morning to a foot that was much larger than the night before and unable to move or withstand any pressure, thoughts that it was infected became odds on favorite.
So, I became first one on tour (and hopefully last) to end up in a hospital bed with a saline drip coming out of their arm.
Arrived at Mission Hospital…very recommended…if you need it, it turned out to be the best hospital I’ve been in; very clean and efficient. Was seen by the doctor almost straight away, she bandaged me up and sent me for the anti biotics. I spent the next day walking like a cripple and had to go back for a check up today (Tuesday 6th). I had another anti biotic/saline drip and was given a load of tablets to take away. It still hurts a bit, and walking is tough, but the doctor was happy with everything so can’t complain!
Hopefully I’ll get some rest for it tonight and tomorrow and it’ll be ready for scuba diving in Koh Tao. I’ll let you know of its progress!
