The Tablelands

We start out for the tablelands early and take the winding road up and over the mountains by Kuranda. Our first stop is Mareeba to The Coffee Works. Lots of cofffee is grown aroound here and we learn all about it and the types of coffee etc....coffee is not called beans until they are roasted, prior to that they are coffee cherries (bit of trivia for  you there). After a wonderful iced coffee, we head on to Atherton it's self but don't top as we are heading to the Malandra waterfall for a quick photo stop before lunch on the Millaa Millaa Waterfall circuit. There are three very different falls, Milla Millaa, Zillie and Ellinjaa.

From here we drive through the sugarcane lands to South Mission Beach for the night. We are directly on the beach and it is wonderful.  Have a swim in the pool and then pizza on the beach, fantastic. Also a good stroll down the beach to settle the food and an early night as there is nothing else to do here.
