Brazil played Ghana and Clive and Kuria changed the whole schedule so we could watch the match at 6 pm. The "TV room" is an open shelter and moths were attracted to the TV light blocking some of the view. All the men in the village came to watch and I've realised Africans are really into football! Hentsoa and Shola were the only people supporting Brazil with me, but I was the only one who shouted and celebrated when Brazil scored (which made people stare at me even more, but i'm more than used to this already!).In the end, however, I was supporting Ghana cos everyone looked so sad and disappointed I felt kind of bad. I had told Louis and Jojo that I would become Ghanaian if they won, but it was not the case.

Today we had to do a workshop in pairs and I did it with Hassan. We had to walk around the forest and design a project. I think we spent about 3 hours talking about everything but Biology! It's just so interesting to get to know other cultures, like on the way from Dar to Amani, Jojo was telling me that in Ghana they believe that if a girl wears a beanchain around her waist, she'll have a small waist (maybe I should try that...). Or Samora was telling me that if you are a Christian in Tanzania, you are not even aloowed to go out with your girlfried unless it is a family dinner or at the church.

This is another thing I noticed, most Africans are Christians apart from Hassan who is Muslim. But they all believe in something and I guess it's because in Africa they struggle a lot and the only hope they have is in God. Europeans have most of the things they want and don't really need to hold on to something. hey believe that if they are good and successful it's enough. But African faith really encourages me. Nyinka wakes up every morning to pray and read the Bible at 5am!

Everyone here is SO into Biology. When we are walking on the trails, the whole group stops to see a tiny ant or anything that is interesting (it's actually good for me cos I can always have a break from the walks!) They also know so much about Biology !!This intimidates me a little bit, but at the same time it's an inspiration for me to go on with Biology.

Yesterday we played hide-and-seek! It was so fun! There was about 12 of us and we played in the dark but we had to stop when they turned the generators off. There's no electricity so they turn the lights off at about 7am, turn it on again at around 7pm and off again at 10pm. I go to the toilet with a torch in my mouth and do my necessities in the dark!!It was a completely new experience!!!
