  • Friday - July 20, 2001:
  • Today we drove up to Wurtulla near Caloundra on what is termed the Sunshine Coast, north of Brisbane. We will spend the weekend visiting my Cousin Fay, whom I had never met. On Friday night we will spend the night with her daughter Delma and her husband Alan.
  • We drove into the Glass House Mountains and visited the town of Monteville and their little shops. The pottery shops are exceptional. Then we drove to delma's house down in Woodford.
  • Delma has a small hobby farm, as she likes to call it, where she has a handful of Irish Dexter cows. Kristin and Lindsey enjoy feeding them.
  • Saturday - July 21, 2001:
  • Drove down to Fay's house and met her and her husband Cliff. Then we went over to the Buderim Ginger Factory which is now located in Yandina. I visited this factory years ago when it was located in Buderim. I can distinctly remember the strong aroma of ginger in the air as we approached the factory. Today, the factory produces about 40% of the world's ginger. It has shops and a cafe and the ginger drink is hand made there. It is the best I ever tasted. Lindsey loves crystalized ginger as well. We take the train ride around the factory on an old steam engine that use to to be up in New Guinea where some sugar cane was grown.
