Day 1
From Hola Amigo in Ixtapa, Mexico on May 04 '05
We arrived to a beautiful sunny day in Zijuatenajo. As soon as you step off the plane you begin to sweat. It is a sticky humid heat. We were taken by taxi from the airport to our 'casa' at Pacifica Villas Resort. We are staying in the largest suite in the place apparently. We met up with a lot of Mexican people who Papa knows from the resort. Everyone here calls him 'Scooby' or 'Scooby Doo' because they cannot say Scobie. The manager of the resort Armando is very nice, so are many of the other staff here. We were taken by truck to our casa. It is breathtaking. The view of the bay is amazing. Papa, Aunty Christy and I chilled in our own private pool that is in the corner of the living room. Drank enough beers to get a good buzz going. Papa treated us to the best dinner I have ever had. The restaurant 'El Faro' is no more than 30ft from our door. We all had the same dinner, all 8 courses of it! It started with salmon mousse on crackers, then bread, lobster bisque, lobster salad, sorbet, fresh lobster tail with prawns the size of a man's finger and chicken stuffed with spinach, all toped off with a creamy dill sauce. For dessert was a choice of four different desserts. We each ordered different ones. The one that Papa ordered was made right in front of us. It was a banana with rum, and it was set on fire! My mouth still waters. There was live sax music. The food just kept coming. We ate dinner and talked for four hours. The three of us agreed that each day we would try something new. Tomorrow we are taking the gondola down to the beach for breakfast.
