We woke up, got ready, had breakfast and we were then picked up from our guesthouse by a tuk-tuk which took us to the cooking school. We were greeted by our teachers for the day- Nam and Wa-Wa and everything was perfect until Wa-Wa spoke and we realised she was actually a he! Then we walked to the market with out little baskets and Wa-Wa taught us about all the different vegetables, spices and rice on the market. We took our ingredients for the day back to the cooking hut and started cooking! First we made Tom yam soup which tasted exactly like the restaurant version- we were quite impressed! Then we made Pad Thai, apparently otherwise known as Pad Farang (farang=foreigner) because all the tourists love it, obviously not just Cait. Then we made spicy glass noodle salad-bit strange but nice all the same followed by cashew nut and spicy chicken stir fry. We then made our own curry paste- I made green curry and Chris made yellow using a mortar and pestle which was interesting, and then used our paste to make our curry! For dessert we had pumpkin in coconut milk. All in all it was a yummy day and definately worth it. Tonight we may go and see some Thai boxing but we havent quite decided yet... Tomorrow we go to Chiang Rai on the border of Laos and then we are travelling by boat into Laos so next entry will be there! Hope you are all well xxx
