The Brat Stop in Kenosha
From Camping in Northern Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula in Kenosha, United States on Sep 24 '05
Since we were already driving straight through Kenosha we had to make a pit stop at our favorite store for brats and pick some up. We often eat here too, it's a cheese store and restaurant off of I-94 and WI-50 in Kenosha. I seriously think they have the best bratwurst in the entire state of Wisconsin. They make them homemade and we always have to pick up a pack of Cajun Brats when we're there, these are the yummiest brats ever. We also got some Merkt's cheese spread, cheese curds and a bottle of wine (and stupidly forgot a corkscrew so we'll have to try and find one somewhere so we can drink it).
This was our last stop before we got to the campground. I thought it would be an easy drive here on out, but it really wasn't, somewhere before Milwaukee the sky decided to open up on us and visibility on the interstate was limited. I think I averaged speeds of about 45 mph through Milwaukee and the rain was off and on hard all the way to Green Bay. The rain finally subsided when we got closer to the campground in Lakewood, WI, but we knew the closer that we got that we wouldn't be making it before it got dark.
