What bells?
From Lou and Bry- Off to see the World! in Santa Cruz, Ecuador on Dec 30 '08
Santa Cruz was rather awesome, we spent most of the day looking at dolphins swimming in front of the boat, jumping out of the water when they thought everyone was looking, and at pelicans, whilst most of the population of Galapagos Island converged onto the island for a HUGE party. They love New Year here!! Burn effigies of the ´old year´and collect money for the ´funeral´of said old year. We had planned to see in 2009 with a peaceful celebration on the top deck staring at the Southern Cross. We thought we´d have a wee kip, (or ´sleep´, if you´re from anywhere but Scotland!) until about 11, and slept until 1am. Grr, much?!? Lol! Instead we woke up, said a lazy ´happy new year´to each other, then fell asleep again. I´ll tell you one thing' the sea air is good for sleep. The sea itself is evil and makes me sick, but it was a great experience.
On our last day on The Angelique we went to the other end of Santa Cruz and visited the Darwin Centre, which has Lonesome George, the poor old turtle who is at least 150 years old and the only known survivor of his species. Bless! Got Mum and Dad D Scotland their anniversary presents here. You´ll see them in a few weeks, no doubt, but most probably NOT anywhere near your anniversary. Oh, and Dad, this doubles as your birthday present too!! Just incase we are nowhere near a computer at these dates, We both wish you a Happy Anniversary, and a Happy Birthday when they come!
