We decided to go to Milan once we had arrived in Monte Carlo. It was to be a short two day trip and it was worth the sidetrip.  We spent most of our time in the Duomo area where we went up and down the street window shopping and eventually going on a mini shopping spree.  There was lots to see, tons of shops and cafes to sit in and just people watch. There is a store called the Rinocentre that had everything you could imagine inside. There were quite a few floors to the store and we browsed through most of them.  We also decided to go see the castle/fortress that is located close to the Duomo and it was interesting to see the amount of influence that Napoleon had on the country. There was an arc de Triomphe like structure that was seen in the distance from the castle and a few monuments erected for Napoleon.  Milan is a very interesting city to see and the best way to travel is with their metro system, although it is fairly dirty, it is worth it to use the metro rather than driving as their street signs make no sense whatsoever.
