La Paz is something else...i had no idea what the city is about maybe until a month ago. and i read a bunch of seedy stuff about the city and i felt a little bit of it. but nonetheless, it was an interesting city.

i arrived early that morning and felt the altitude right away. Cusco is pretty high in altitude too but i think La Paz is even higher. so i started to take my pills again. i went into the city via a minibus which cost like $3.80 bolivianos which is like 55 cents USD. the driver put my backpack on top of the minibus which had a rack but he didnt strap down my bag. i seriously thought my bag is a goner as soon as we hit the highway. it must have been rattling on the top and every 2 minutes or so i would look back to see if my bag fell off onto the highway haha. when i arrived at my destination, i was soooo surprised that my bag was still there...oh thank goodness!! i didnt want to replace all my clothes and not able to charge my ipod! haha

i stayed at a place called the brew adventure...ok area and costs like $58 bolivianos a night. the place was quite nice...lots of places to hang around to meet other ppl which was cool. i think thats the best part about staying at a hostel. the first night i didnt go out...i slept so much cuz i was so exhausted from previously day.

the following day i cruised around the city...saw the endless markets La Paz has to offer. they´re really into fried chicken, fries and fried plantain. i had some haha i didnt care what i eat at this point cuz at least if im sick now i´ll be near a bathroom and not on the inca trail. that night i went out for dinner with some ppl from my room, an amercian guy, english/ozzie guy, and an ozzie girl. the ozzie girl lost her passport in Potosi and yet she was so upbeat and happy....she wasnt even worried at all. i guess there´s nothing u can really do. so i think she´s staying in bolivia for awhile until she gets her passport again. that night we went to this cute restaurant...they had llama which i refuse to eat (i cant even eat lamb so i doubt i will like llama). then we went to a local bar but really there were more tourists there. everything in bolivia is so cheap - eating is cheap, drinking is cheap, living is cheap. i heard that you can live in La Paz for $150USD for rent per month...fukin awesome, right? haha

i cruised around the city some more...the city is pretty much a big market with stalls and stalls of random stuff u can buy. my spanish is almost none existent even with the 1 course i took couple of years ago. i have a phrase book and all but havent start using it yet. luckily everywhere i went there´s almost someone who speaks fluent spanish hehe

that night i went to the bus terminal and got onto a bus to Uyuni where my tour of the salt flats begin! :)
