Staying at the G'day Mate CP. Hot 39 degrees. After putting up the annex we had a few large drops of rain, first rain since April, it smelt really good but didn't last long. Macca's for tea.

Visited Alice Springs Reptile Centre. The kids loved it so much, we had to stay for two shows, apparently no one else had ever done that. We asked if the kids could volunteer and Rex, the owner' said yes, and that was the start of 4 to 6 full days a week of the kids feeding lizards, cleaning cages, handling the baby snakes and helping out at the daily shows. And learning more about reptiles than most other people, also learning more about people skills and life skills than any other kids their age.

Went to the Desert Park, good day, hot. Saw lots of animals and bird local to the area. Just as many outside the enclosures as there were inside them. Blue Fairy Wren, Crimson chat and heaps of port Lincoln Parrots.

14th Oct: I flew down to Melbourne to pick up Shirley to head to Lightning Ridge. No need to write about that nightmare week!! A couple of weeks of full on work followed.

Brett and I went to the Telegraph station while the kids 'worked'.

We walked around the Todd mall and saw the aboriginal painting laid out on the streets. Dean and Shon surprised us by texting us to say they had booked a place for tea, so we meet them at the Red Ochre, they had a couple of days off and had driven down fromTennant Creek.

Our Romsey house was sold and we are in the process of buying a house in Tennant Creek.

5th Nov: Went for a drive to the West Macdonnell ranges. Started at Standley to Chasm to Elery Big Hole, Ochre Pits, Ormiston Gorge, Glen Helen and around to Palm Valley and Hermannsberg. Palm Valley was a 20km 4wd trip down the Finke river bed and over rock plains, we fought the sun going down but just made it for some pics, then turned back to the highway seeing wild horses on the way.

9th Nov: Marilyn and Neville, friend we made in the caravan park, knocked on our window early Saturday morning to get us our of bed because the Todd river had flooded over night. We got some great pictures, everyone was out watching the normally dry river bed. Excitement in Alice Springs!!

10th Nov: The kids got to be movie stars, starring in the new Northern Territory Tourism ad. They where invited to be in the ad by Andrea, Rex's partner. They sat with 3 aboriginal women and some other kids learning basket weaving. After the filming was finished, we went out for tea with Rex, Andrea and Jenny, who worked with kids at the reptile park.
