Well we came to Arequipa for a bit of rest and relaxation but after meeting up with our Pommy mate John from Quito we actually ended up going out for four of the five nights we were there, the hostel we were in (called The Point) was great, like being at home again but with a fully stocked bar.

Between drinking sessions we managed to squeeze in a trip to the Santa Catalina Monastery which was....BORING, some people loved it as it is a huge spanish colonial building taking up an entire city block and has some great history of the nuns that came across from Spain in the early days of colonisation.  Apparently in the early days their lifestyle was more akin to how we spent our time in Arequipa rather than spent in the quiet contemplation of God.  Anyway after about the 30th room looking exactly like the last one we'd had enough, although they did have a lot of cool old paintings if your into that.

Other than that went Go Karting pretty much every night, it was like being 14 again, luckily the operators were unaware that I had my Go Karting licence revoked about 12 years ago in Mount Beauty for failing to slow down on an orange light.
