Spectacular scenery

Today we headed off on a 14 hour bus trip to Yosemite National Park.  The trip out was four hours and took us through what is known as "the salad bowl" of California.  It's quite strange farming country because there are farms on one side of the freeway and industrial sites and huge shopping malls on the other.

As we climbed higher, snow started to appear on the ground and became thicker and thicker as we drove on.  Then the trees became like something on wintery Christmas cards... branches bending under the weight of the snow.

We arrived at the lookout from where we could see El Capitaine, the largest single piece of granite in the world.  We then spent a couple of hours in Yosemite village before the long drive back to San Francisco.

There is really only one word to describe the things we saw today - WOW!!!!!!!!!
