A final night in Singapore

On the afternoon of Wednesday Jan 18th we made it back to Singapore after the 3 hour flight from Manado.  By the way, Silk Air do a great job - heaps of leg room and very attentive service - Qantas could learn a few things from them!

By now we were old hands at Singapore's subway system, so quickly made our way down to the airport station and in no time at all were back at the Oxford Hotel.  We were most relieved to see that the bags we'd left in storage almost a month previously were still safe and sound! 

The end of the story

We headed down to Chinatown for some shopping - most importantly, some new t-shirts - we hadn't had the opportunity to do any washing for quite a few days, and were both wearing our last cleanish shirt!  We picked up a few other items Wendy had had her eye on, and had a Chinese meal (what else?).  Chinatown was looking very decorative as it is almost time for the Lunar New Year.

Next morning was electronic goods shopping before meeting up with Emily for lunch (for those who've forgotten, Emily is a former member of Keith's gamelan group who has returned home to Singapore).  It was great to see her again.  A little more shopping in the afternon and it was time to head to the airport once again - for the last time!

We were on board QF10 at the appointed time and so, a few uncomfortable hours later, suffering from a lack of sleep, we arrived back in Melbourne.  The trip was over!!!
