It is so hard to describe the feeling of what was truly one of the best days in my life.

We woke up to morning fog that did not clear until around 11 am before we could lift off to the zone.  I was freaking out before the heli had even landed, he was about to set down on a cornice that was about a metre wide, Dave in my group looked at me and saw my white face and gritted teeth and laughed.  We landed about 50 metres below this and proceeded to do the slightly less freaky hike along the 1 metre wide cornice.  So i am already peaking before we have even started the run!

It is a completely overwhelming experience to realise a dream.

The run was fantastic, the powder incredible.  So when i got to the bottom i asked tom our guide what that run was called and i found out that it was Funky Town, as some of you may be aware, Funky Town was where i broke down like a baby last year when i thought i was going to die.  I had just nailed a run that i never ever wanted to see again.  And i must say ignorance is bliss, so for the rest of the day i proceeded to ensure that i never knew what run i was on until i was at the bottom!

We moved on over to Cave Mans which was really sweet until we got down to lower elevations of heavy wet spring snow with a surface crust, i then began to taste test this snow head first at least 3 times when i caught a toe edge.  I cannot begin to describe the amount of pain and effort it takes to try to get a board underneath you and stand up on a flat surface when your body is physically below your board due to the massive impact crater you have just created.  Suffice to say there was a period there where it took about 5 minutes with every yoga posture in the book and every ounce of strength that i had to get upright - and all this while the heli is running, waiting for you to pick your fat ass off the snow.  But to experience the cataclismic lows you also get the reward to hit the euphoric high of overcoming adversity.

We then moved onto Desserts which i have no words to express how much fun it was.  It was a run that was not too scary but challenging enough in the roll overs to keep you on your toes and it was long and sooooo unbelievably good that we hit that area consistently finding new powder stashes that we never went over our same tracks twice.  And this was how my best afternoon i have known was spent.  It was a mind space kind of thing that was working for me, i had a new found confidence and i was riding just like i dreamed during the past year in the gym while trying to find inspiration to push my fitness limits.  I could not believe that i was riding the way that i always wanted to.  It is a completely overwhelming experience to realise a dream.

To finish off the day on our last (7th) run, we stepped up the scale to go over to Full Support.  We were on the far side of the valley looking at this run and it was intimidating.  When we landed up top it was even more intimidating.  We were looking at angles consistently varying between 40 to 50 degrees for about 2500 feet.  I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!  But boy my legs didn't love me when i got to the bottom, a true thigh burner and i was so tired but so well satisfied.

So once again the weather outlook is pretty bad but considering the last 2 days were supposed to be trash i don't know.  It doesn't matter if i don't get out again this year as nothing can bring me down right now after the day i have just had.
