I met up with Diana and Tim moments before our train pulled out of Fez. It was a long ride (about 7-8 hours), but it was a beautiful ride, just like Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young had said it would be.

Marrakesh isn't as much fun during the day like Fez is. The medina in Fez is much better, and there are SUBSTANTIALLY more tourists in Marrakesh. I was really surprised at how busy it was in late October, in the middle of the week, at a time when many European tourists were supposedly cancelling bookings to Arab countries.

The nights are fantastic though, and the main square fills up with snake charmers, dancers, storytellers, boxers (yes, boxers!), singers and every other kind of entertainment imaginable. It is just as much a spectacle for the locals as it is for the tourists, and it's quite a site to behold.

Tim was only with us for 1 night before heading down south to the desert. Diana and I decided to explore the history of The Tribe in Marrakesh and ventured off the synagogue and Jewish cemetary in Marrakesh. It wasn't quite as nice as Fez, but it was very interesting nonetheless. I was also glad because Diana had missed that experience in Fez, and with her earlier anti-Semitic encounter in Morocco it was good that she got to see the other side of things.

Unfortunately my flight out of Morocco left Casablanca at noon, which meant that I had to take an early morning train (ie: 1:30 am) out of Marrakesh to make it in time. I said good-bye to Diana and Morocco, but I'm sure that I'll see them both sooner than later.
