On the way home from our Egeskov Castle trip, Jenny and I found ourselves in Odense for a few hours between trains.

This was very convenient, for I had yet been to the city. Odense is one of the oldest cities in Denmark (1020 years old) and its third largest city. It was also once home to Hans Christian Anderson.

Doubting I would find myself there again, I grasped the few hour opportunity to walk around the town. The cottages, churches, statues and scenery I encountered were charming. Hans Christian Anderson's home, however, was much smaller and more humble than anticipated.
