I booked a tour through Evan Evans Tours today which started at 8 a.m. and ended about 7:30 p.m.  The tour was a bus tour to Windsor Castle, Bath and Stonehenge.  Our tour guide gave us all types of cool facts:

  • London is 12 times bigger than Paris
  • There are 7.6 million people in London, 12.5 million if you include the suburbs.
  • The world famous retailer Harrods is 160 years old.
  • Heathrow Airport is the busiest airport in the world.
  • Windsor Castle is the largest castle in the world.
  • Bath is the first city in the world to be given the status of World Heritage Site.
  • The Royal High School in Bath was the inspiration for the school Hogwarts from Harry Potter.
  • Stonehenge will soon be added to the Wonders of the World list.
  • Stonehenge is the only stone circle formation in the world which has 'top' stones.
  • The roads and visitors center at Stonehenge will soon be renovated.  During this, Stonehenge will be closed to visitors for 10 years.
Check out the photos, thats the very best way to get a feel for these magnificent sites:

I saw three World Heritage Sites in one day!!!

When the bus tour ended, Rod wanted me to join his group in a part of town called Waterloo.  I took the tube/subway there and we all met for some great curry/Thai food.  We found a cool casual place called Bangalore Express.  When you walked in there was a line of boths along the right wall.  But wait, above those booths was another set of booths, like a bunk-booth.  You climbed a ladder made of piping, and took your seat in the second story booth.  Really cool!  We ordered an insane amount of Thai food and pitchers of Indian beer.  Ah...I slept well!
