Indianapolis
From 1,200 Hours in North America in Indianapolis, United States on Jul 16 '08
Despite the fact that it wasn’t in any of our guidebooks, we just couldn’t pass up a trip to the Indianapolis 500 Race Track (“The Brickyard” to you racing fans). For $3 each we took a look around the official racing museum, which houses a collection of historical and recent cars and trophies, then for another $3 each we took a ride around the track. Our little tour van topped out at about 35 miles an hour, haha, but it was fun to be on the track.
After the racetrack we took a look downtown and then decided to head to the Indianapolis Museum of Art. (It was free and air conditioned, which was especially appealing in the sweltering heat.) My favorite parts were a photography exhibit on America and the famous LOVE work of art. (Reproduced all over the world because the artist wasn’t allowed a copyright.) We took a picture in front of the LOVE statue in the garden outside the museum.
Then it was home to Milwaukee for our events!
