Monday: "Tyson's Big Night Out"
From Induction Week in Jonkoping, Sweden on Aug 20 '06

The day began fairly poorly as all the exchange kids were crammed into a lecture room and introduced to everything most of us already knew. The rest of the day was supposed to be crammed with "important information", but everything was so unorganized that Chris, Sam, Tyson and I all went home early for some pre-drinking in anticipation of the week's first party.
After regaling us with story after story about the crazy times he's had in Australia, Tyson finally got the chance to show us how he parties. The student party was at a club called Ã…tta Glas (which means...something in Swedish), with a cocktail party beforehand at 7:30. We figured we'd have a couple brewskies at 5:00 and head down for the bus around 7:00...which would've worked perfectly had Tyson not drinked his face off and thrown up on the lawn on the way. Sam and I did our best to get him to the bus stop a couple of hundred metres away from our room, but we soon realized that it wasn't going to be happening. After getting yelled at in Swedish by some parents unhappy with our antics so close to a children's playground (yeah, we're going to hell) we finally decided it was bed time for little ol' Tyson. I've got to say that I've never seen anyone pass out at 8:00 before.

We serenaded him to sleep thanks to Sam's awesome guitar playing and actually ended up going to the club (but missing the cocktail party - no bigs) which was actually quite nice...kind of like a smaller and classier version of Tequila I would say. The music was a mix of European Techno and American Top 40 - actually a pretty nice balance if you're into dance music. Download "Boten Anna" by Basshunter if you get the chance; it's absolutely huge here in Sweden and insanely catchy...I've broken out some huge moves to that track.

Overall a fairly solid night - it's amazing how easy it is to meet and talk to people when they're all in the same situation as you. Good friends were made, and I think most were fairly impressed with the Canadian dance moves they saw (well maybe not so much "impressed" as "not appalled")
