Hi all, sorry its been so long.  I have been having too much fun in Germany!  We were met at Regensburg train station by my good friend & German sister Isabel (who was an aupair in Sydney 6 years ago), also her aunt & uncle, Christa & Joseph.  We were taken to a Greek temple high on a hill overlooking the Danube river!  The temple was similar to the Parthenon in Athens.  The view was stunning!  We then headed to a German pub & I tasted my first dark german beer.  Germans drink there beer quickly & I stuggled to keep up!  We settled in nicely at Christa's beautiful home 45mins outside of the city & spent the following 4 days being spoilt by our host & hostess.  Each meal was like a banquet of fine German food.  Bread & cheese is the speciality of Germany & boy did we sample the bread & cheese! I have now gained a few more kilos as Im sure is evident in my photos!  Speaking of which, I am having trouble uploading pics so at some point you will get the old pics.  I have now updated, florence & naples pictures so check them out.  We went to the German alps one day & walked around a huge lake at the base of the snow capped mountains, breath taking view!  The weather fortunately cooperated for us!  I learnt some German & can now count to 10 (I was taught by Christa's 4 yr old grandchild who kept repeating the numbers & so after an hour I had stored them away!  We went through regensburg town hall & saw the prision cells & torture room with the original torture equipment used to extract a confession from the accused!  Makes you glad that we do not live in those times anymore.  We saw storks, the birds that deliver babies (yes they really do exist)!!  We did not want to leave Christa's home when it was time & we have a high standard to match when Christa & Joseph come to Australia in 2 or 3 years time!
