March 7th
From Phnom Penh we took a speedboat down the Mekong River to Chau Doc in Vietnam enjoying the views of river life along the way. About 4 ½ hours. When we crossed into Vietnam our boat pulled up to the mud bank and we had to scramble up the bank to the “customs office”. Our hotel in Chau Doc was a nice little Boutique Hotel for about $12.00 per night including breakfast. We enjoyed a motorbike trip up to Sam Mountain where we enjoyed beautiful views of the Vietnam and Cambodia border as well as great Saigon beer. We had several minor mishaps along the way such as running out of petrol, flat tires and an emergency pee break for one of the drivers. This all added to the enjoyment of the trip.
