This was a driving day - lots of ground covered, and lots to see!  We hugged the coast for awhile, driving north from Gerdi to Egilsstaðir, our destination for the night.  The first bit of driving was along the coast.  We had sparkling ocean to our right, high steep mountains to the left.  There were gravel sections of the road that were quite scary, up high and without guardrails so it would be long way to fall into the ocean if you went over.  Plus plenty of blind hills and one-way bridges.

We stopped for lunch at a great place called Cafe Margret, where they had excellent prices.  We both got soup and bread and I got a refreshing chocolate milkshake.

From there we headed inland, over a mountain pass and down to the scenic Egilsstaðir, perched on a lakeshore.  We took advantage of the nice day and drove over to Seydisfjordur, a quaint town on a quiet harbor.  It was a full day of driving!
