Unawatuna
From Hambantota Adventures! in Unawatuna, Sri Lanka on Jan 31 '08
Left Hambantota at 8am for our relaxing 4 day holiday along the east coast starting with Unwatuna. 3hours later arrived at the Peacock Hotel where we stayed for one night. It was nice and cheap only £7.50 for both double and triple rooms, with all the basics, even if it was just one bed in a room!
Very much a hippy area with only foreigners staying here, laid back and a lovely smell of weed! Found out that one of the guys working at the hotel, has friends who live in Thorpe St Andrew, Hillcrest Road believe it or not, which is right near me in Norwich! Too many of these Norwich occurrences going on! Lots of swimming, sunbathing and simply relaxing! Even got a gorgeous massage from Fox and Dawn used her wonderful skills on Katy with all the techniques! Unawatuna is a bay round the coast nicely enclosed, unlike Hikkaduwa which is a long stretch. Had BBQ in evening, very tasty with barracuda fish (like Finding Nemo!) and even saw shooting stars while waiting out on the sand. Was sitting backwards sloping down with the sand into the sea and nearly fell backwards, but thankfully a plank of wood came to sturdy our chairs! Rachel and I ventured out later at Happy Banana Restaurant, gazing at the stars in sea beach loungers before boogying down under the shiny disco ball. Jimmal happily entertained us here too by singing ‘Ambalata’ ‘Tatalata’, to like a tribal beat! Funny guy!
