Another Day on the Garden Isle

After a long day yesterday, I slept in a little (missed the sunrise...). I went to the gym, got some food, and prepared to head out onto the island again. Today, we decided not to rent a car since we had to be back to the ship by 1:30 PM in order to leave the dock on time. So, instead, I walked off the ship and down the coast about a mile to Kalapaki beach. Nice, calm beach that wasn't too crowded. Surrounded by little shops, hotels, and a few restaurants, it has a little bit of everything. I chilled out by the beach for a few hours, and then walked through the shops. I didn't buy anything (they all had the usual tourist stuff), so I headed back to the ship even though I probably wouldn't have minded being left behind on this island.

That afternoon, I relaxed in one of the restaurants with my bandmates as the ship left the port of Kaui and gradually preceded up the East coast. Around 5 PM, we made our way up to the sun deck to get a good viewing position for what the captain had to show us. The ship slowly floated up the coast and turned to go up the North shore. From here we could see the green mountain ranges that we were driving around the day before. The landscape was immense from the perspective of the sea. This tied nicely into the evening sunset that was happening in the Western sky (of course).

I wrapped up this day with another great meal and another night of music. Tonight (our final night) we performed from 10 to midnight and said our farewells (for now). The ship now steered towards Honolulu.
