The BEST thing I have done since moving from Australia was visiting Berlin! This city is full of energy, history, culture, sophistication and boy do they know how to party!!!! Ill definitely be going back - transport was easy to use, airports only 40 mins from the city, fab shopping, scrummy food and our accommodation was great too! Check out the pics - but I warn you - some are a little scary!!!!

Sightseeing in Berlin: Free Free Free! - What more would you want from a tour??!!

This Free Walking Tour was recommended to me by a girlfriend and it was a fantastic choice! Advertised at many of the hostels and hotels around Berlin, the Free Walking Tour proved to be the best way to see the major sights and get orientated with the city firsthand. I didn't study Modern History at school so I was really keen to hear about the history of Berlin and the Nazi movement in earlier years and how it changed the city...

Our kiwi guide, Mike had lived in Berlin for 3 years and spoke fluent German - entertaining, motivating and a wealth of knowledge for every possible question thrown at him by our group - it was a free tour, but I wasn't walking away without tipping him.

Brandenburg Gate, Victory Column, Rememberance Church, Checkpoint Charlie, Potzdam Platz, The Berlin Wall, Museum Island, Opera House, and many more sights were seen...A great way to see this city - wouldn't do it any other way!

Free Vodka and Beer-Can I have your attention please??!!

This was a great night out in Berlin - a fab way to see the nightlife that Id heard so much about back home! Because we did the free walking tour earlier that day, we got a discount on our pub crawl which ended up costing us EUR9.00! so so cheap!! we had free vodka (sorry, wodka) shots and free beer plus entry to 5 bars and clubs!! We met up with Steve (from South Africa), some canadians and some australians and had a blast!!! Fire breathing, dancing in the sand (how bazaar in the middle of a city!) and late night stops at burger king made this a night we weren't going forget! (or remember!)...Being the night before the main event meant starting the party early - Go Hard or Go Home!

Love Parade 2006-The Love is Back!!!!

After a massive night out on a pub crawl and getting up saturday morning after 4 hours sleep you would think the last thing we'd want to do is get up and do it all over again. WRONG!!!! 2pm-11pm - the perfect time for the biggest event of the year I say! We headed down to the Brandenburg Gate where the entrance was for the parade of a lifetime - THE 2006 BERLIN LOVE PARADE!....we were prepared for all walks of life at this party. Located on one of the loveliest boulevards in Berlin, people arrived by the hundreds and thousands throughout the day and night....every type of costume and outfit had been thought of for this very day! If you can imagine anything crazy - it probably was seen or happened here! - 1.2 MILLION people dancing to the likes of Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, ATB, Nik Fish, Mark Dynamix and MORE! 18 floats, 11 stages - I quote the official website - Peaceful, Joyous and Furious! This has got to be the BEST thing Ive done since leaving Australia - we met some awesome people, danced till the sun went down and can't wait for next year!!!
