São Paulo
From 10 months in South America and Africa in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Mar 16 '08
When I arrived in São Paulo, I just took the Metro there to the place where Lilian lived. Lilian, a travel friend I met in Buenos Aires, is a Brazilian and studies in São Paulo. She invited me to crash at her place while I was staying in São Paulo.
She lived with three other girls in a place very convenient to the metro. Her other roommates Bea, Juliana and Bruna were also a lot of fun and the best was that they all spoke quit good English :-) So my three days in São Paulo ended up to be a very fun time.

They all introduced me to many Brazilian dishes and tradition. Some examples of dishes were Polenta (a deep-fried corn dish), Kipe, Esfiha, Sanduiche de Mortadela, Pastel (yummy, Sugarcane juice, Tapioca bread and lots more. It was very interesting and most of the time really good.
Other than that we explored the city a little bit. There was a big market right in the center where you could get all sorts of fruits and vegetables. Lilian bought a fruit which we tried. But we both couldn´t remember the name of it and everybody we showed the picture of this fruit had also no idea what it is called ... oh well, it was good and yummy and apparently very exotic!

We also went to a nice and big park (reminded me on the Central Park in NYC) where we met Lilian´s cousin Luis. We had a great time there and later that night we went to a free Cello concert (Monika, here I thought of you!). It was a very nice and interesting style of music. Also one day we went to a bank building somewhere in the center. There you can get up and see São Paulo from the top - for free. I really loved it. And the weather was just perfect while I stayed there ... no rain what so ever!
I had a great time in São Paulo, Lilian and her roommates were great Hosts. Thanks to all of you, I wouldn´t forget you and your lovely hospitality!
Now it was time for me to say goodbye to South America ... for so many months this continent was my home and I loved it ... it was a great experience and I am sure I will return one day, because I didn´t see half of the things you should see here ...
Africa, I am coming !!!!
