En Route South - to Merangu

Drove down to the Merangu Hotel at Merangu today. It was absolutely chucking it down when we got there (so much for African sunshine!) so Annette and I decided to bunk out and get a room upgrade at the lodge where we were due to camp for $60.

We're clearly getting past it. We looked at a twin room and a double room and opted for the twin room becasue it was bigger!

The site was very comfy. Nice bar, very hot showers and a great view of Mt Kilimanjaro in the morning provided you got up early enough.

Mount Kilimanjaro - honestly, we thought about climbing it but the others weren't up for it.

Driving down through Tanzania to get to Merangu was absolutely beatiful. Lots of variety in the landscape, hills, cultivated areas, plains and always friendly people smiling and waving from the side of the road.
