Life´s a beach
From Arriving in Ecuador in Canoa, Ecuador on Feb 11 '09
So I have been wanting to address this issue for awhile but I figure now is a good of a time as any. There is a growing menace that I have noticed here in South America that has really been bugging me. I believe that the pandemic already made its way through the states in the 80´s to early 90´s and now it is confined primarily to rollerbladers in L.A. Down here it is, unfortunately, a huge problem among all demographics. I wish I could say that the problem is a medical issue, taking lives, decimating poor villages, etc. That is not the case, however. If it was an illness it would not be the fault of the carrier but rather the cruel hand of fate but this is a sin of choice. All I wish is that I could walk down a street in South America without being forced to endure the sight of this shameful condition, I try to hold out hope but it´s hard to be optimistic sometimes. By this point you might be wondering what I am talking about, but some of the more astute among you may have figured it out. The #1 problem that confronts Ecuador today is not from the economy or healthcare or education but the real problem lies with the peoples´ unabashed love for mesh shirts.
Mesh shirts are the most meaningless/pointless/hideous clothing articles in the history of mankind. They strip the pride and the dignity from a man, leaving him vulnerable to a host of other blunders in the realms of music, art, and alcohol. My hope is that someday the government will realize the inherent societal danger of mesh shirts and take steps accordingly, but really the change must start with the heart´s of the people of Ecuador. Wherever you are, I hope that you will help me in publicly ostracizing and ridiculing all those who wear or have ever worn mesh shirts. I am doing my part and I hope you will do the same.
