We arrived at 8 AM in Trujillo and it was too late for my bus connection down to the Codillera Blanca ... so I decided to join Alex to the Beach. Just outside of Trujillo is a little fishing and surfing town called Huanchaco.

We took a bus to Huanchaco and found a little Hostel (we bargained and got the room for 15 Soles each :-) ...). We just dropped off our Backpacks and went to the church of the town. From there we had a great view of the little town and the Pacific! The town had also a little pier and we went there as well.

Later we went to the beach and both of us made it into the ocean. It was freezing cold and the waves were really strong (no wonder it is called a surfing paradise ...), but it was good! I felt asleep on the beach for a moment, but it was already long enough to burn the back if my knees (guess, I forgot to put sunscreen there ...) Oh, well ...

When we both had enough from the sun, we went to a little bar next to the beach, got a beer (so far, I always liked the beer in South America) and had a great time watching people. Next to us were three guys and a girl, all drunk and local, and they bought a lot of crap from the cheap jacks ... also they had a weired drinking game we never had seen before ... they had one glass, several beers and they always filled the glass full with beer, one person drank it until it was almost empty, than they poured the rest of the beer in a different glass in the middle of the table and the next person got a full beer glass and so on ... ??? Also we had a blast by watching locals hitting on Gringos ... hilarious! First they talked to the girl(s) on a distance and step by step they getting closer and closer ... some had guitars with them (looks always good on the beach). they just know exactly how to get what they want and amazingly it works quit often. We had a ripping good time!! :-)

After a shower we went to get something to eat and there was Alexandro or Antonio or whatever his name was ... he is from Peru he spoke fluent German (according to him he learned it at the Goethe Institute and I will believe it) and first Alex and I thought he would be an interesting person ... but we waisted an hour of our live trying to talk to him .. I am not sure what happened in his live, but it was definitely destructive!! I mean, he approached us on the street in German and I think he ws hoping to get a free meal from some stupid tourists ... he was just f***ing us and after an half an hour Alex and I turned the table on him!! Actually, that wasn't really a waste anymore :-) ... we did a good job, it didn't took long and we got rid of him ;-) ... Normally I try to be polite, especially since I am a guest in this country, but he really asked for it!!

At Dinner we met two Austrians we knew from the Bus (Loja - Peru) and had a chitchat with them. Later we went to a little bar, but since I had to get up at 4 the next morning I went to bed at 12 AM (not really early)

By the way, we chewed the coca leaves (legal to buy in this country) we bought earlier on our trip, but I spit it out within 5 minutes ... it tasted like hay! I better stay with the tea :-)
