From Liver and Onions versus the world... in Glasgow, United Kingdom on Mar 23 '08

It's T-minus 8 weeks 'til we leave now...ze balls are finall rolling (but whose balls?!  Har har) and we're in the middle of actual travel plan-nage.

We've had two jags each so far (Hep A and Polio/Tetanus/Diptheria) and they were both on the NHS.  Apparently they don't offer Polio seperately anymore, so I had to get the bundle despite having been jagged in the name of Tetanus a couple of years ago (the result of a freak sewing machine accident).  All the other jags we'll be getting privately...a wee tip for folk having to pay privately - phone around various chemists as they all offer different prices.

I can't believe I've just written an excited paragraph re: travel towels and head-lights

I got a little bit too excited about a couple of travel towels and head-lights we've bought for taking away.  The towels are amazing; you get them in a teeny, tiny bag and they fold out to an ample-sized large towel!  They're made of super-special material apparently, and they dry really quickly (which we can vouch for as Jo's tried one on his dreads already).  The brand is Sea-to-Summit and we bought them from Argos.  The head-lights make us look like mine-dwelling aliens, but they're dinky too so will fit nicely into our bags.  I figured it'd be handy to have a wee torch in case we arrive at hostels late night or need to pee outdoors...don't want to be the anti-social Scots waking everyone up!  I can't believe I've just written an excited paragraph re: travel towels and head-lights.

I don't know if anyone reading is familiar with Glasgow traditions, but in the background right now I can hear the roar of thousands of motorbikes taking part in the Easter Egg run...basically the bikers of Glasgow (and surrounding areas) get together and buy easter eggs (and donate money to charity) for the wee kids in Yorkhill hospital.  It's actually an amazing spectacle!!  I actually think I'll miss Glasgow when we leave...it's been a brilliant place to live.
