Canada is so beautiful. Or I thought so anyway. It's enough like Australia that I felt familiarised but different enough that you can't forget that it's not home. A couple of things I noticed: the light switches are upside down, the toilets flush really strangely, there are YELLOW SCHOOL BUSES PEOPLE, the traffic lights don't make a sound for when to cross, at most intersections there is no button to push for the crossing lights, the train system is much less used than at home (which surprises me cos it's heaps more reliable than Connex...a plague on you, Connex, A PLAGUE ON YOU!) and of course the big one: THERE IS SNOW!!!   Yay! SNOW! I HEART SNOW!!! It makes EVERYTHING pretty. I saw a moose (actually I saw several mooses...it should totally be mooses, moose is NOT an adequate plural!) their ducks are heaps prettier than ours, I ate pheasant (tastes super good), saw tonnes of squirrels (they are so cool and cute...then again, I guess they're to Canadians what possums are to us...darn pests!) went skating on a frozen lake, went to an ice hockey game (love that game, only game where you're ALLOWED to smash your opponent's face into a glass wall) watched ice hockey on tv, had the most perfect Christmas ever, ran through the snow, built a snow man, had a snowball fight, read Calvin and Hobbes comics all day, had waaaaay too much sugar, lots of tea, and some crazy fantastic food! Man, where to even begin with Canada. It was more an experience than things to be recounted. It was warm and beautiful and friendly and happy. And sweet. Definately sweet and sugary! There is definately a warm little place in my heart for that country.
