Oh my I just remember something that is funny - funny now - it was not funny last night. When we were going thru the airport there were escalators & elevators. Of course when you have 2 carry-ons & a 50-lb. suitcase to lug, the elevator is the preferred mode of transport. Jeff only had 2 carry-on sized bags. And from my previous experience men tend not to be afraid of escalators. We had to go down an escalator...I freaked out!!! I'm a little afraid of escalators, especially when I have my hands full! So Jeff stepped onto the escalator & looked back at me just standing there. "Come on", he said.

I just stared at him blankly! It was at this moment that I wished I was traveling with a fellow scrapbooker. I wish someone could have taken a picture of the look on my face. I was terrified! What would I do? Maybe if Jeff saw I was afraid he would leave his bags at the bottom & come back up to help me. NOPE!! I was going to have to figure something out. I put my backpack on, stacked the smaller suitcase on top of the 50lb. suitcase and stepped onto the escalator dragging the 60+ lbs. behind me. Whew, with one free hand, I was able to hang onto the side and keep my balance.
I was terrified!
The hotel escalator was another story!! This is the funny (funnier) part. I would have paid good money if someone had taken a picture of what I'm about to tell you. Ok, I went thru the same stacking routine, completely confident after having conquered the 1st escalator at the airport. I pulled the stacked luggage behind me as I stepped onto the escalator. OMG, the luggage isn't on the same step as I am. Worse than that, it's hanging off the step behind me by one wheel!! The weight shifted and came down on my big toe (I'll spare you the photo of that). There I was on the moving escalator, holding on the to the rail with my left hand, holding the handles of the stacked suitcases, trying to lift the suitcase with my foot (big toe) to get it on the step behind me. I finally gave up and left it propped on my foot until I got to the bottom. Jeff was standing down there waiting. I'm wondering what he thought of my circus act!! The bell man (I think that's what they're called) rescued me as I came off the escalator.
