Gambling in Macau
From Lady Carmel's Adventure in Taipa, Macau on Oct 28 '07
With Macau only a ferry ride away from HK I decided to spend a night there before moving on. I took a ferry across which only took a little over an hour and eventually found a hotel in the city with an Oz girl I had met at my hostel. We were both catching the same flight from Macau to Singapore the next day so it worked out well.
The weather was pretty shitty when we were there so we didn't get to walk around much and explore. As it was so late all we done was walk about the Casino Royale for a bit & then jumped in a cab to head across the island to the Venetian Casino
we perched ourselves at the bar in the Bellini Lounge and watched the various bands and acts perform while knocking back some Macau beers
and what a sight it was. It looks just like Vegas - although Vegas is more impressive given all the hotels are on the one strip. It is bizarre walking in and seeing all the Chinese gambling. After walking about the hotel & checking out the indoor canals we perched ourselves at the bar in the Bellini Lounge and watched the various bands and acts perform while knocking back some Macau beers - not a bad place to enjoy our first Macau beers. As we were both shattered from our late nights in HK it was back to bed before 2am to get some sleep before our flight in the morning to Singapore!
I will have to come back some other time and see the sights in Macau properly.
