Back to home base

The trip back home was mostly uneventful. Seemed like it took longer getting home... But no problems on the road.

Backing the camper across the highway and down the fairly steep grade of the driveway is always a little bit of an adventure. The road is not particularly busy, but the traffic tends to be moving fast.  And the oncoming cars from the West can't see all that far ahead, so there's always a chance that they might not be able to slow down in time. So Donna stands out by the road and acts as traffic monitor while I back out of our neighbor's driveway across the street, between the reflective markers that I put on both sides of the driveway (because I can't see the driveway at all) and down on to the gravel RV parking pad.

The quiet is welcome but the loss of Abby is awful.

All went well, and we unpacked in about an hour.  It was (and still is) strangely quiet and calm here without our Abagail's constant desire to be fed. The quiet is welcome but the loss of Abby is awful.

Laundry cleaned, fridge emptied, and the items we need regularly are all in the house. We will close up the camper for about a month till we pack again to go to Asheville where Donna will attend a CEU session.
