the happy reunition with Verona..
I was here with Morten, Mortens middle sister Isabelle, Isabelle's boyfriend, and their father about 7 years ago. They laughed at me, then they where annoyed at me for filming the entire city with the camcorder as I was completely swooned, in love and facinated by this unique city.

So I thought, when I got here this time, I would not be as in love with the city. I was wrong. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!

Verona... just the name of the town is lovely. verona, verona veronaaaaa!
And yes, it is the town that shakespear set his famous play - Romeo and Juliet. Juliets house is ofcourse a major attraction in the city.. and its such a charismatic house! No wonder... thousands of lovers has written their names on the gate and courtyard on the entrance to the house.. Me included 7 years ago..I wont look for it tho LOL, i wouldnt be able to find it..
Romeo's house is more anonymonous, but still old as ages.. actually in very facinated with that house aswell, i havent seen it yet on this trip, but it has all these windows that they have bricked up. Its so old.. imagine the people who have lived there... I wonder what their dreams and thoughts were..

Anyway, I don't think its ACTUALLY their houses... Juliets house used to be an old tavern. And apparently the story orgins from Vicenza, a neighbouring city to Verona.. and is an old folklore.
But yeah, needless to say, the aspect of Romeo and Juliet in the city had me pretty good aswell back then :P
On a personal note- I called Mortens father as I came into town to tell him I revisited the place. And I think he knew that I wanted to smile upon good memories that we had so many years ago.
So, what more can I say about Verona? I wish i had a time travelling machine sometimes.. Yeah, I know i know.. back in the middle ages.. or renneisance was probably nothing better than the now.. in many ways.. But, seeing all these beautiful... worn out.. and so atmospheric buildings.. Makes me dream about how it would look 300,400,500 years ago..What people did in town.. How their lifes were.. I did that too with Firenze though.. wich again, had another romantic story attached to it, with Dante and beatrix.
Again, another reason as to why i studied art history and archeology.. wanting to understand the mind and emotions of people who lived so many years ago, its a time thats gone.. just a scent and a mystery... a puzzle, right? In a romantic way, and I am probably idealising it.. but lemme live in a dream world LOL!
(i've been wanting to understand this dreamworld my entire life :P I REALLY want a time travelling machine.. I used to phantasise as a kid about going back in time.. and when I was little.. I thought, If i study archeology, it might be the best shot Ill ever get at going into a time machine if it ever gets invented (no, i dont think I'll get a shot at that nowadays :p ). Further more, I used to daydream about all the beautiful 1500, 1700 dresses id buy and so on LOL! That I'd visit Marie Antoinette in versailles and become best friends with her daughter... yeah, crazy :P And I used to draw these phantasies as some on going cartoon, on thousands of sheets... wich is how I eventually got into studying visual art.. ) Oook, i wasnt exactly a normal little kid :P No wonder why the other kids thought I was a weirdo! They were all into Donald Duck, ball games and cartoon network.. Whilst I was dancing ballet, reading on greek and norhen mytology, ancient kingdoms, art and history.. Oh and I also used to have this huge facination for plants, wich i guess i still have :P (i actually had a plant club, were me and my friend would just plant an onion and see what happend, I named my Onion plant Eponine, go figure.. i was 8 :p and yes, please... go ahead and call epo an onion plant from now on :P )
Verona is so atmospheric.. ok, im going to stop. Ok I just love verona, OK!? LOL!
Anyway, I got a stupid hotel this time :/ I miss the hotel in Firenze.. Wish i could have taken it with me! No AC here... some internet connection thingy that costs a ton, so I'm writing stuff offline first :P I'll prob get to post it tomorrow or something :)
2 kilometers from town..+ 115 euro pr night, yeah, kind of sucks..Dont live here if youre in verona.
But I had a nice long chat with the cab driver, so I got to be abit social atleast :P
Hype and adele needs to go to verona and make babies!
LOL!
On a more superficial note... italy is handbag and sunglas paradise :O I have ofcourse found myself a new italian purse love.. A "Guess" this time, I was looking for a cheaper purse than the one I usually wear (My Hugo Boss), and found this awsome italian purse... Also.. I found a pair of Gucci sunglasses that caresses my face just the right way :o
I'm not a huge shopper, honestly... but Italy can make a shopper out of you...
And another wonderfull aspect of verona... RAIN! I love the veroneese rain!
Ok, it was the same as last time , and they got this opera outside in the arena. They had to cancel the last time, they had to cancel now :P
I think it was verdi's La traviata that played tonight..
Anyway... the weather starts like this : BOOM BOOM *huge beautiful lighting that cracks the sky open* BOOOOOOM..
Italians running wildly across their tables outside... trying to save what they can untill... the sky opens... and this shower (litterary) hovers down, warm shower. I love it!
So, I was sitting outside when it happend.. on a street restaurant, BOOM, then the wind tried to drag along the poor parasolle that was keeping the rain out LOL! My neighbour, an old german couple, tried to desperatly hold onto the parasolle while laughing joyfully at the rain. It was great! :D
Love it!
Ofcourse, camilla and Isabelle always tortures me with stories of when I wasnt used to this kind of thunder and lighting.. and was quite afraid that it might hit us. We were sleeping in tents in Zurich then, in switzerland.. Mortens dad said, "Oh it doesnt hit here down in town.. only in the alps" (just like he said "oh you wont get stomach sick in zurich, its impossible cause everything is so clean there", and the day after I was spending the day in some bathroom on the railway station, puking ), so I asked mortens uncle about this, he lives in zurich steadily.. and he replied "Hah! No! It hits down everywere! :D "

So... sleeping in the little tent that night... I demanded that they *blush* slept with sneakers on... so that the lighting wouldnt harm them because of the rubber, if it striked down in our tent :P They were annoyed as hell, but I was more scared than they were annoyed, so i won :P Apparently, as we all fell asleep.. the lighting DID strike like 1 meter from us... I didnt wake up however, but they sure did, and were alot more scared than I was :P
However.. now I know better, and I am not afraid of thunder and lighting what so ever... I just enjoy it :)
So YAY for crazy italian weather! :D
