Incline Village, a great escape
From Lake Tahoe, a week in summer in Incline Village, United States on Jul 27 '07

The weather on the east coast was predicted to be hazy, hot, and humid - the 3 H's, typical weather for the end of July. But I was headed to Reno, Nevada, and then to Incline village on Lake Tahoe, where I hoped to escape the humidity. And escape it I did - the typical humidity during the week I visited was between 8 and 10%. The air was clear, it never rained, it was never even slightly humid. A beautiful escape indeed!
Ten airlines fly to Reno, so the choices are varied. I decided on Southwest because they offered a direct flight from Philadelphia. Arriving at the Reno airport, I took the airport North Lake Tahoe Express shuttle http://www.northlaketahoeexpress.com/home

which delivered me to the Incline Village Recreation Center. The recreation center was less than a mile from the condo I had rented, so I walked. Incline Village is set amid tall tall pines, and it looks like none of them were removed for building. The air smells fresh, and every path is covered with pine needles.
The North Tahoe shuttle also goes to the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe hotel, not too far from the rec center. But the Hyatt was way out of my price range, though I did visit their casino.

A short ten-minute walk took me to the Forest Pines condo complex on Juanita Drive, and I was pleased to discover the place looked just like the photos from VRBO. There was a pool and jacuzzi at the clubhouse, only a few yards away from our 3-bedroom townhouse. I would definitely use the Vacation Rentals by Owner website again, everything was exactly as promised.
