Oaxaca is a beautiful city and the capital of the state in which it located. Tucked in between the Sierra Madre del Sur and the Sierra Madre de Oaxaca mountain ranges, the climate is temperate and the air is pleasantly free of humidity. This, of course, provided quite a nice change for me having come from the sticky, Chiapan jungle and saline-saturated Veracruz before that.
All in all, my time in Oaxaca has been among the most pleasant of my entire journey. I have spent my mornings sipping cafe con leche on the zócalo and walking around crowded artisain markets and my lunches exploring the incredible variety that Oaxacan cuisine has to offer (moles in particular). In my afternoons here I have visited numerous historical and cultural sights like Monte Albán, which is an archeological sight where a series of Zapotec ruins have been discovered and restored , and the Iglesia de Santo Domingo, an enormous baroque church with high ceilings, thick walls all covered in ornate, gold trim and still have managed to fit in a healthy siesta each day.
All in all, my time in Oaxaca has been among the most pleasant of my entire journey.

Today I pack my bag and set out for Puebla, where I will visit my friend Avery and explore all that that city has to offer. Yet, even so, the taste of leaving is bitter-sweet; sweet for having found such an incredible city and bitter for having to leave it so soon.
