I am one of the CCs. That's the reason why I can travel around the world for free...
CC stands for 'Communication Coordinator'. CC deals with all sort of communication such as language, culture and generation). There are 10 English-Japanese CCs and 3 Spanish-Japanese CCs for this cruise aged 23-38. I have such a lovely colleagues to work with. Since we started our training session 2 months prior to the departure, and we have been spending a lot of time together on board, it did not take us much time until we got closer.

What CCs mainly do are; interpreting on-boar lectures and seminars, translating on-board newspapers and other stuff, helping GET classes as a language assistant etc etc… For example, my first major job as a CC was to work with the Japanese photo journalist whose focus was Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Each photo he took had a lot to say -- I was really shocked at looking at some photos. His photos eally told his passions of journalism.
Since 'simultaneous interpreting' needs a lot of concentration and focus, we always work with a team of 2-3 CCs. One lecture last 90 minutes, so we normally take turns for 15 minutes. Even if you are not actually speaking, you still take notes to assist fellow CCs.

Also, helping with the OPEN GET (Global English/Espaniol Training for free of charge) classes is a lot of fun! There are always 30-40 students proactively taking part in the language class. Most of them are in their 50s, 60s or even 70s. I am impressed with the way that they are applying themselves to learn something new at any time.
However, there were still many passengers who are asking us what CC standed for even after 2 weeks on board as well as we were all introduced to passengers at orientation sessions. It came to our attention -- 'Are we not popular yet?!'

We organised an event to get passengers know more about CCs. We showed our dance, introduced about CC jobs by acting in skits (this was the funniest part i should say! i was wearing a high school uniform lol), showed video which we have made to introduce each CC member, gave audience a quiz about us and so on... It was a great 90 minutes, great success!
