The area surrounding Hangzhou`s West Lake is one of the most beautiful places I`ve ever been to. The lake is 3km in diameter, so we hired bikes out, those little rubbish fold away kind that you see in London, with no gears or working brakes, and circled the whole lake. Every time we dropped off curbs it felt like the handlebars were going to come off. Very enjoyable though. Think we even caught a bit of Sun. Check the photos from the waterfront and the botanical gardens. Amazing. The whole place is filled with colour and greenery. Everywhere there are flowering plants and orchards etc. We got real lucky with the time of year.

The food here was excellent, although I'm not sure Nathan will agree. He's a bit fussy when it comes to bones, in fish anyway. There's a dish called _______ which is some sort of white fish in a beautiful sauce. The fish is served whole. The bones in this fish are the type that don't come out once stuck in the throat, shaped like wishbones!
