This was our first time using America's railway. I decided to splurge and get a sleeper car and I'm very glad I did. The compartment was very small but it provided us with privacy and beds to sleep in (albeit narrow bunk beds). The additional amenities (refreshments and meals, shower room, services of the car attendant) were nice but all it took was a walk through the coach cabins, with the screaming children, people strewn all over the place and total lack of privacy, to make me appreciate booking a sleeper car.

After getting off at East Glacier, we got our rental car and headed for the Two Medicine area of the park. As an easy start to our trip, we went to the Running Eagle Falls, which was an easy 1/2 mile hike, to see a "trick" falls. Due to a fissure, most of the water comes out of a cave located below the fall.
We then headed for St Mary Lake and our lodging, the Rising Sun Motor Inn. While not much of a place, it had the ideal location for the next day's activity, driving the Going to the Sun Road. The road was under repair and was still closed to traffic when we entered the park but at 7:30 PM the road was officially opened.
