Destin/Seaside, FL

It's a nice getaway for the wknd.  But I'd not want to live here.  There are so many cars during spring break that it takes an eternity to get somewhere.  Its mild weather is a big draw compared to the cold, windy weather in Hilton Head Island and surrounding areas during the same time.  Folks are nice but then again it's a tourist economy.  They have to be nice.

Seaside is about 15 miles from Destin.  Its unique architecture makes the town stand out.  The town served as a backdrop of the movie "Truman's Show"  starring Jim Carrey in the 90s.  It resembles the town of Celebration developed by Disney near Orlando.  Many cottages are for rent, particularly at the next-door vevelopment of Watercolor, while others cost millions but the entire structure is wood.  I hope those people are insured.  The stretch of US98 b/t Seaside & Destin has fluctuating speed limits & Walton Co Sheriff does enforce them.  Go with the traffic flow.

Good wknd getaway, but don't come during spring break
