Milford Sound

We headed down the long road to milford Sound, which is a treat in itself! Driving around and through (literally!) mountains set the day off to a great start. We arrived to take a boat trip into the sound and as we were waiting, we spotted a familiar face. Raj, from Christchurch, was on the same trip. We made sure we made friends with the Captain and the crew straight away which was worth it later as we got to drive the boat! We decided on a slightly more expensive trip that went out on a smaller boat which was good. Milford Sound is one of those places that is in danger of being overrun with tourists, but so far as only 2 companies are allowed to operate, your photos aren't dogged with other boats in them!

We spent 2 hours in the sound and it was awesome! The trip took us past waterfalls, coves and out to the far entrance to the tasman Sea. It is si amazing, I can see why everyone makes a special effort to get there! Got very wet under a waterfall and El Capitano took his life in his hands and let us drive the boat! It was truly a magical place and somewhere I think i could visit again and agian and still be awed by it!
