We left the sunny city of Perth to head north, aiming for Coral Bay, Chris's (belated) 50th birthday destination.
We explored the coral coast, leisurely stopping off at a variety of picturesque seaside towns; Jurien Bay, Greenhead, Leeman, Dongara, with its avenue of huge Moreton Bay fig trees, and a beautiful walk along the Irwin River to Port Denison, and finally Greenhough with its amazing leaning trees.
In Geraldton we enjoyed an evening in the Freemason's Hotel watching the F.A. Cup Final...surprise surprise!!

Kalbarri was a favourite destination where we hiked along the coast and met our first native animals, a shy echidna and wary kangaroos peering at us through the scrub. The loop walk from Nature's Window in the National Park gave us great views of the Murchison River gorge with its spectacular rted cliffs and ghostly gum trees.
Eating Northwest Snapper and chips and watching the sunset over the Indian Ocean to the sound of hundreds of noisy, colourful galahs was a memorable end to another special day.
