New Zealand
From Ashley's Adventures in New Zealand on Nov 02 '07
Hey guys!
We made it safe and sound :) Rachel and I have just been touring Auckland these past couple days, getting grounded, walking around, comparing prices of bus passes, hostels, and food. It's spring here in NZ, so the weather changes really quick from rainy to sunny to cool to warm, but we're pretty used to it from the weather we came from back home. We checked out Kelly Tarlton's Antarctic Encounter which is this underwater aquarium right off the ocean, and they also have a colony of real penguins that we took a trolly through. My pics turned out so good the penguins look fake, but I'm not lying :) Today we took a free half day tour of Auckland and walked across the Harbour bridge. No sidewalks for these girls.....more like an airwalk that we had to sign a waiver for and wear a harness to walk across. Kinda scary! It was freakin windy and rainy when we walked......wet hair blowing across our eyes, slippery metal seethrough track that we were walking over, while trying not to look down over the ocean, hanging on to the rails for dear life. It took us about 15 minutes to walk to "the pod" where a couple guys from our group bungy jumped off. Walking across was enough of an adrenaline rush for us thank you! After that we just went to Devenport and just walked around for the rest of the afternoon. We're kinda getting anxious to move on, so it's a good thing we're headed south tomorrow morning on the bus. Everything here is sooo expensive, but we haven't resorted to eating pasta on bread for dinner, or a big bowl of ice cream with 3 pieces of fruit like some of the other girls in the hostel. We gotta look good in them bikinis! ;) haha. Anyways, hope all of you are doing well back home, keep in touch and I'll talk to you soon !
Ash
