Today we arrived in Avignon which is a walled city from the medieval ages. IT is here where the Pope settled and built his 'palace' before moving to Rome.

Avignon was part of the Roman Empire and their influence on the architecture is very evident. In the afternoon we went to Pont de Gard which is the famous aqueduct built by the Romans.

Tonight we celebrated on board ship with the Farewell party. Interestingly enough our last night is not until tomorrow night; however, the crew has found from experience that guest party soooo much they don't want to get up early in the morning to disembark. Therefore, they schedule the farewell party a night in advance. You just gotta love the French!

This has been a wonderful way to see so many places in France, make some good friends and enjoy great food and wine. Our guide has taken us to some spontaneous wine tastings which we have thoroughly enjoyed.
