Kotor's Fjordes and Fortress

Our time in Kotor was disappointingly short.  We actually went to Kotor as a day trip from Dubrovnik, but only spent an hour and a half there.

Kotor is beautiful and definitely worth a longer visit.  Both Sharlene and I were very dissapointed by our lack of sightseeing there.

the closest thing to a fjorde in Eastern Europe

Kotor is a fortress town built into the side of a mountain.  This region of Montenegro is the closest thing to a fjorde in Eastern Europe.  It is stunning geography, but seeing the fortress walls built into the side of the mountain was amazing.  The walls actually zig zag their way up the mountain, and had we had the time, Sharlene and I were really hoping to climb them.

Sadly, we don't have much to say about Kotor, other than we highly recommend seeing it if you are in the area and definitely allow yourself a full day to see it.  The only warning is that Kotor can get packed with cruise ships; we had a full boat while we were there, but apparently it is a favoured cruise ship destination and can at times be overrun.
