A Night Out on the Town
From My Journey begins in Da Lat, Vietnam on Nov 02 '07
Well it certainly was an experience. The bars here are just like normal bars you would find on your average tourist street of Spain, okay with a little less spice shall I call it and little more delicacy. But the clubs are something different. It is unfortunately true what you think of when you think of Asia. The girls are lovely but you really do question their purpose especially when they are out in the thousands at night, it wasn’t so bad in Dalat but I have a couple of stories to tell you about in Nha Trang. It’s like where the rich and famous go oh and of course the western tourists. Bottles of expensive whiskey on their table, people buying the girls wearing long colourful silk dresses waiting until you finished your drink so they can order you another one at extortionist prices. I saw one of the waitresses get a drink bought for her, in which she thanked him and then proceeded to pour it behind her back. Seeing that I’d clocked her she put her finger up to her lips to tell me to be quiet, of course I did but it makes you think about what the tourist trade is doing to this developing continent, when the tourist trade is really thriving, what then, would it promote more of these kind of businesses, is South America to go the same way how can tourists stop being a prime target, how can we inadvertently stop encouraging the unsavoury business that comes from tourism.
It was an interesting night, but my ears were hurting. The next day we made our way from Dalat to Nha Trang hoping to get away from the rain but after another seven hour bus journey we arrived in a very wet coastal town of Nha Trang.
